Gmail more power efficient than regular email
A study released by search engine Google has said that using Gmail for business email rather than a locally hosted email server may be up to 80 times more power efficient.
Using Gmail is effective in reducing server energy, like the energy required to house and cool the servers. The data servers used by Google are amongst the most energy efficient worldwide, and it is small and medium sized companies which will see the biggest CO2 reduction if they decide on Gmail.
Google says over 4 million businesses already use Gmail with regards to business email, which is a considerable reduction in carbon emissions.
